Community & School

Town of Webb School District in the village of Old Forge, N.Y. serves approximately 242 students in grades K-12. We are in the Central Adirondacks, and located approximately 50 miles north of Utica. The district encompasses 566 square miles. The major industry in the area is tourism, focusing on outdoor recreational activities. Residents in the area include business owners, professionals and service workers. From a year round population of less than 2000 people, the area receives a significant influx of seasonal visitors and second home owners.

Extracurricular

  1. We offer a large variety of extracurricular clubs, such as Key Club, Jr. Key Club, Science and Art clubs, National Honor Society, Yearbook, and Student Council.
  2. We have strong vocal and instrumental programs
  3. A variety of sports programs are available, with at least two choices for students each sports season.

High School Academics

We run a traditional schedule in a 6 day cycle with 10 periods. This schedule allows students to take a large number of credits. Full credit classes meet every day and are 40 minute instructional periods. Students must carry 8 credits at all times, and achieve 22 credits before graduation; however, most of our students graduate with anywhere from 28-32 credits. Occupational Education programs are offered via the Howard G. Sackett Technical Center in Glenfield, N.Y. Grading is numerical on a 100 point scale with a passing grade of 65. Class rank is based on an unweighted average. PE is not used in averaging. Final ranking is computed at the end of 7 semesters. We offer three advanced placement classes in addition to sixteen concurrent dual enrollment college courses offered via HCCC. We strive to meet the diverse educational needs and goals of all our students. We have a new partnership with HCCC that allows students, if they choose, to earn enough college credits to complete their first year of college while in high school.

Profile of the Class of 2024: 100% graduation rate, 55% of the graduates are attending 4 year colleges/universities, 25% are attending 2 year colleges, and 2% have entered the workforce.
